As I reached for my furry gray IU Athletics sweatpants today after work, I had a moment with them remembering all we have been through together.
I was just about to attempt a rhyme about my dear pants, but alas, I just don't have the skill these days for those simple tasks.
My moment went something like this though. I have had these sweatpants since 1999 as a freshman at IU. I have probably worn them more than any other one single item in the years since. In college, they have saw me though 5:20am alarms for morning practice, class (when I didn't have it in me to throw on jeans), countless away meets and training trips, and so many lazy Sundays when I refushed to 'get dressed' after a long Saturday night. After graduation, these sweatpants were still a popular item for lazy Sundays when I didn't feel like 'getting dressed' as well as evenings watching TV after taking off my work clothes.
They are the most forgiving, enduring pants I own. They fit well when I weigh 140 lbs, or 160 lbs. They have spirit (GO INDIANA). If my math is correct, they have lasted 8 years, which makes them the senior pants in my wardrobe at the moment. And at the moment, when I am 26 weeks pregnant with baby, they are still a solid go-to selection when I arrive home from a long day at work.
If I were able (and omg wouldn't it be nice right now) I would raise a glass (or mini-pitcher from Kilroy's) to my sweatpants. Cheers.

I love the pictures that document your progress! I really look forward ot them, I think I am obsessed with pregnant woman, there is a baby in there! I always loved getting the photo updates from Jilly (she sent one in her undies...)
I still wear my sweaties, but my hubby has taken over ownership of the sweatshirt. :) How funny, that an ugly grey pair of sweatpants can mean so much to all of us--and has lasted us all so long!
Who did I send a picture to in my undies? How embarrassing!

OMG! Not only am I thrilled to have found you guys on Blogger; but, just yesterday I went through my old clothes and considered giving-away the old IU sweats but they are so beaten they were actually in the (brace yourself) throw-away pile for just a few minutes. They were quickly taken out when I got stuck in memory lane and I am actually wearing them right now as well. Weird! Anyway, I know I've been very very very out of it & I'm the worst at staying connected (that is my #1 new years resolution) but I think of you guys often & wouldlove to hear from you all! My life has been CRAZY to say the least but I think it is settled enough to realize what really matters: FRIENDS FRIENDS FRIENDS

hey ladies--i just found this blog! great to hear so many wonderful updates-engagements, weddings, babies, jobs, moves, the list goes on-congratulations!! i will be in bloomington next week to do recruiting.
p.s. i still have those sweat pants-they are slightly mc hammer, but they are the most comfortable!
